Veronica Jennings, an engineering services apprentice at Imtech Engineering Services, has been awarded the 2022 ECA Edmundson Apprentice of the Year Award.
Jennings received the prize, which recognises her as one of the country’s leading electrotechnical and engineering services apprentices in the UK, during a ceremony held at the Royal Society in London.
Veronica, who works for ECA member-firm Imtech Engineering Services in Nottingham, was trained by leading apprenticeships provider JTL. After overcoming fierce competition from two other finalists, Veronica won prizes including £1,500 and an overseas study tour sponsored by industry manufacturer Thorn Lighting.
The two runners-up, who each won £750 and a state-of-the-art toolkit, are:
- James Stanford of Gilbert & Stamper Ltd
- Charlie Ewing of The Rosebery Group Ltd
On receiving the award, Veronica commented, “I feel delighted and privileged to be recognised as ECA Edmundson Apprentice of the Year, and I am honoured to represent Imtech Engineering Services. I would especially like to thank my tutor Neil from JTL and my employers, who have been fantastic mentors and provided me with the best start to my career I could have wished for.”
Carolyn Mason, ECA Head of Education & Training, added, “I’m pleased to offer our congratulations to Veronica Jennings for deservedly winning this year’s ECA Edmundson Apprentice of the Year Award. The quality of the finalists this year is a real indication of the talent that exists in our industry, not to mention the exemplary way in which they have overcome the challenges of the past two years.
“Imtech Engineering Services and JTL deserve credit for the support they have given to Veronica during her apprenticeship, which has been a clear success. Congratulations also to Gilbert & Stamper and the Rosebery Group, for presenting such able finalists, and supporting high quality training within our sector.”
