The Micropower Council, one of the most significant and trusted umbrella trade bodies driving the microgeneration agenda, has announced its backing for this year’s InstallerLive exhibition (16-19 October, NEC Birmingham) – the only national show dedicated to the needs of plumbing, heating, electrical and renewable installers.

Representing a wide range of companies and organisations active in microgeneration, the Micropower Council is leading the campaign to create a genuine mass market for small scale, low and zero carbon electricity and heat generating technologies. On Stand 734 at InstallerLive and in regular business and technology clinics taking place in the Eco Challenge area of the show, the Micropower Council will provide installers with important advice covering microgeneration issues. The Council will also be taking a leading role in the ground-breaking training programme at InstallerLive which is focused on equipping installers with the skills they need to benefit from the Green Deal and other low carbon initiatives.

“We are delighted to be playing a key role in this year’s InstallerLive event” says Dave Sowden, managing director at the Micropower Council. “The exhibition is continually growing and the addition of microgeneration technologies to its remit is an exciting move. This is a time of great opportunity for the sector with the development of the Green Deal and a comprehensive package of financial incentives just around the corner”.

He adds, “We recognise installers have a unique part to play in theUK’s drive towards a low carbon future and InstallerLive’s carefully designed low carbon education programme demonstrates their ambition to equip the installers of today with the skills and knowledge to sell low carbon, on-site energy generation to their customers”.

At 2.20 pm on Monday 17 October, Dave Sowden will host a keynote talk in the event’s Green Deal Station entitled “What Renewables Can Do For You”, outlining the top level opportunities available to installers in the microgeneration sector. Later in the week, on Wednesday 19 October at 12.30 pm, Grace Bennett, the Council’s head of policy, will chair a panel of experts debating ‘The Potential for Microgeneration Under the Green Deal’, and explaining how installers can benefit. In the Heating & Cooling Skills Station on Tuesday 18 October at 11.05 am, Ilias Vazaios, policy advisor at the Council will join with a speaker from the Energy Savings Trust to introduce ‘The Renewable Heat Incentive and the Renewable Heat Incentive Premium’ to installers.

“We are delighted the Micropower Council will be closely involved with InstallerLive” says the show’s event director, David Pierpoint. “Like the Council, we firmly believe that engaging installers is key to creating a mass-market for renewable products and services. That’s why InstallerLive is partnering pro-actively with the Micropower Council and other major stakeholders such as DECC, the National Skills Academy for Environmental Technologies, HETAS, the Energy Saving Trust, MCS and many others to help convert today’s gas installer and plumber into tomorrow’s microgeneration installer”.

The InstallerLive Education Programme will ensure installers receive the training content they can trust in four eye-catching seminar and demonstration areas at the show – the Green Deal Station, the Plumb and Electro Skills Station in association with EAL, the Heating and Cooling Skills Station in association with Corgi Direct and the Eco Challenge, which is sponsored by The National Skills Academy for Environmental Technologies.

Major brands already confirmed to exhibit at InstallerLive include Anton Industrial Services, Baxi, Calor, Cleaner Air Solutions, Danfoss Randall, Glen Dimplex, Heatrae Sadia, Horstmann, Ideal Heating, Keston Boilers, Polypipe, Remeha, Renault, Salus Controls, Stelrad, Viessmann, Vokera and Wilo.
