Paint manufacturer Crown Paints has been able to cut its greenhouse gas emissions significantly since installing forklift trucks using batteries and chargers supplied by Hoppecke Industrial Batteries, the largest battery manufacturer in European ownership.
The batteries are used in Crown’s fleet of seven Flexi articulated forklift trucks that have been supplied by Narrow Aisle. The trucks are in use at the company’s Hull production facility in East Yorkshire and are backed by a comprehensive service package that covers safety checks, maintenance and repairs.
A key element of the Narrow Aisle contract with Crown was the integrated battery power management system from Hoppecke which minimises energy consumption through rapid charging. The system also removes the need to charge batteries while they are on the trucks and so increases productivity by slashing truck downtime dramatically.
When looking to upgrade the truck fleet at its Hull site, Crown was especially keen to install a system that improved its already impressive environmental pedigree. To this end, the new batteries and trucks will go a long way towards helping the company to achieve its 2020 target of cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 25%.
Jason Howlett, Hoppecke’s regional managing director – Northern Europe, commented: “When Crown Paints chose to improve its forklift truck fleet and enhance its green credentials, Hoppecke’s batteries and battery management system were the ideal choice. Hoppecke has always been an environmentally-focused company and combines this with a solid commitment to enable our customers to keep on improving their productivity. We are thrilled to be involved in this major installation and to be playing our part in helping one of the world’s leading paint manufacturers to meet its environmental targets as well as its efficiency goals.”
