Marco – Going for Gold, an Olympic Business

In this challenging economic climate, what benefits can be gained from buying British?

As a UK manufacturer, Marco is committed to developing quality products delivered through first class service channels, based on common principles that underpin the UK contracting market. Paul Diggins, Sales and Marketing Director at Marco discusses why now more than ever, it’s best to be British in manufacturing:

“In today’s challenging economic environment, contractors are making a more considered choice when specifying products. Quality, cost, ease of use, customer service, availability of stock, suitability for specific environments and aesthetics together form part of the decision making process.

As a UK business, with every aspect of our operation based in the UK, we are able to deliver in line with each of these customer needs. Manufacturing is being hailed as the linchpin of the economic recovery in the UK and it’s important that we take this opportunity to showcase our business benefits and demonstrate why contractors should look closer to home rather than rely on the import market.

“With a large manufacturing facility in North Wales, we have recently invested in a second facility from which we can stock large quantities of our products ready to despatch on a same day basis. With far fewer miles to journey than our European counterparts, we are limiting our carbon footprint, whilst helping our customers adhere to the increasingly strict sustainability policies applied by main contractors and end users.

“Our growing sales team now provide full UK coverage and we are able to develop close working relationships with contractors, wholesalers and specifiers in areas that are familiar to both themselves and their contacts. The phrase sustainability for Marco goes beyond direct environmental concerns and encompasses an ethos within the company culture.

“In 2011, Marco introduced its latest generation of uPVC Trunking, ‘Elite’ – this is an important development for Marco and represents a significant leap forward in terms of product offering. We are able to roll out a national programme of training that was developed following direct feedback from our customers as to how they would like to see it delivered. Similarly with our Steel Wire Cable Tray, the introduction of new accessories means new techniques and more effective methods of using the system are possible, and we are very to share the experience with our customers. We have also created a podcast that demonstrates how to make the most out of the new accessories, comparing our new system with traditional ones and highlighting time and labour savings.

“Our ability to react quickly and effectively is made much more efficient and simple by being an integrated part of the same UK working environment where a shared understanding is key. Marco is approaching its first decade of business in 2012 and we are delighted to see the business develop to become an industry leader.”

Marco is a leading uPVC Cable Management Company, and the UK’s largest manufacturer of Steel Wire Cable Tray, and continues to grow and expand, developing its ranges, introducing new products as well as variations on existing lines and accessories. For further information visit
