Engineers working in the green industry charged with making buildings more energy efficient and green friendly are being invited to a national green energy conference in Liverpool in October which includes six hours of CPD training.
The inaugural Green Power Forum (GPF) takes place at Liverpool's new BT Convention Centre on 15 October.
GPF chairman Mark McManus said the event's purpose is to spread the latest knowledge, learning and expertise in renewable, low carbon and sustainable energy technologies. It is specifically targeting professionals responsible for making homes, buildings and communities greener including engineers. The green technologies being examined will cover heating, hot water, ventilation, lighting and electricity generation.
"The GPF's stimulating programme is designed to give clear practical advice and instruction," he said. "All delegates will receive six hours of CPD training – one sixth of the professional annual entitlement. Both the public and private sector are under enormous pressure to become more energy efficient and find environmentally friendly alternative forms of heating and power. This is where the GPF comes in providing best practice advice and training in going green."
The GPF will be divided into sessions hosted by leading industry experts including:
• The starting point – How to make your building more energy efficient and how you can use renewable energy technology.
• The cost – what are the costs of going green and what are financial incentives available to help meet that cost. This session includes detailed analysis of the huge range of grants and also tax breaks, how they work, who is eligible.
• Government – policy now and in future, including planning policy. This session hosted by a Government expert will examine in detail Government regulations and how the setting of renewable energy targets will affect the property sector.
• The products – advice on green energy products and technologies. Which are best, how they are installed, how they work. This will include a range of case studies.
Speakers will include Hergen Haye from the Department of Energy and Climate Change and Kelly Butler of British Electrotechnical and Allied Manufacturers Association (BEAMA).
