Powergen raises prices again

Powergen will raise its electricity prices by 7.2% and its gas prices by 11.9% from 31 August. This will be the third rise in electricity prices and the fourth rise in gas prices since January 2004.

The company blames the price hikes on an increase in the wholesale cost of fuel. The managing director of Powergen retail, Nick Horler, said: “The UK is in an era of rising energy prices and we, like all energy suppliers, are under tremendous pressure.”
