LCH powers tsunami relief project

Glasgow-based LCH Generators and Scottish Water have combined forces to donate a 415V, 60kVA three-phase generator tank to power a water-purification plant together with two water tanks for victims of the Asian tsunami disaster.

The plant, a reverse-osmosis machine designed to turn brackish water into clean fresh water for drinking, is being shipped to the Indonesian region of Banda Aceh by Blythswood Care, an international Christian aid charity based in Glasgow.

Built by Scottish engineering specialist Babcock, the reverse-osmosis plant is a fully self-contained unit housed in a standard 20-foot ISO container. A third Scottish partner, Scottish Water, is supplying the tanks to store the brackish water and the fresh water after processing.
