Siemens Power Transmission and Distribution (PTD) is to set up a 300/132/11 kV transformer substation as an important nodal point in Kuwait's high-voltage network.

The order is worth around EUR70m and has been placed by the Ministry of Energy in Kuwait. The transformer substation will enhance the availability of power in Kuwait and contribute to expanding electricity supplies for the municipality of Jahra, situated to the west of Kuwait City. Commissioning is scheduled for February 2007.

Since the late 1960s, Siemens PTD has delivered about 100 high-voltage SF6-insulated switchgear assemblies to Kuwait. This current project is the fourth 300kV substation.
