EA Technology appoints Gareth Burton as CEO

EA Technology has appointed Gareth Burton as Chief Executive Officer, with the move taking effect from February 9, 2026.

The high-profile appointment comes just days after EA Technology confirmed the acquisition of Fundamentals Ltd, a UK provider of voltage control solutions, as it looks to broaden its grid-edge capabilities and build out an end-to-end proposition for network operators facing growing pressure from electrification and distributed generation.

Amanda Mesler, Chair of EA Technology, noted, “Gareth’s appointment represents an exciting step forward for EA Technology. He brings a rare combination of deep software expertise, international leadership experience and a strong track record of scaling businesses while creating real customer value. As EA Technology enters its next phase of growth, Gareth is exceptionally well placed to lead the organisation and build on the strong foundations already in place.”

EA Technology said Burton is joining at a ‘pivotal point’ as the business expands its hardware and software capabilities and strengthens its international market presence.

What Burton brings from Orbus Software

Burton joins from Orbus Software, where he served as CEO for three-and-a-half years and led a team of around 300 employees across the UK, Australia, the US and the Middle East. During his tenure, Burton reportedly ‘more than doubled’ the revenue of the company and returned it to profitability, with the business recapitalised in 2025 through a partnership between private equity firms FTV Capital and SilverTree.

Gisle Glück, Partner at Summa Equity, EA Technology’s major shareholder, commented, “EA Technology plays an important role in enabling the energy transition through its impact and expertise. Gareth’s experience in building profitable, international technology-led businesses aligns strongly with EA Technology’s long-term ambitions. We are confident that his leadership will support sustainable growth while continuing to deliver a positive impact for customers, employees and society.”

Before Orbus, Burton was CEO of Thinkproject, a European construction technology software company. EA Technology said he led a transformation after relocating to Munich, delivering sustained revenue growth and executing an M&A strategy that culminated in the company’s sale to EQT in 2020.

Commenting on his appointment, Gareth Burton noted, “EA Technology has a strong purpose, a highly skilled team and a clear opportunity to scale and deliver global impact through our market leading technology solutions. I’m excited to be joining the business at such an important moment and look forward to working with the team to grow EA Technology’s capabilities, expand internationally and continue delivering meaningful outcomes for our customers.”
