ABB has confirmed the acquisition of Solutions Industry & Building (SIB), a France-based manufacturer of building products and cable glands.
The acquisition is designed to broaden ABB’s range of cable protection solutions across rail, mining, original equipment manufacturing (OEM) and other specialised markets.
SIB, founded in 1922 and headquartered in Boulay-Moselle, France, currently employs around 100 people and serves more than 2,000 customers worldwide. The company manufactures a range of cable glands, couplings and accessories in brass, stainless steel and plastic for applications in electrical, railway, shipping and mining industries, as well as certified products for hazardous environments including oil and gas.
According to ABB, the deal is intended to strengthen its presence across Europe, the Middle East and North America. SIB’s long-standing relationships within energy, transportation, industrial and construction sectors position it to support ABB’s strategy in these regions.
“The need for safe and reliable electrification solutions continues to grow, and the addition of SIB brings an industry-leading portfolio and century of expertise to expand our capabilities and product range in highly specialized markets,” said Khalid Mandri, President, ABB Installation Products Division.
“Bringing together this team will strengthen our offering and complementary portfolios as part of our ongoing strategy to invest in opportunities that accelerate growth, extend our reach in key markets and provide our customers high-quality, innovative solutions.”
SIB Chairman Gilles Lherbier added, “This marks a significant milestone in SIB’s long history and provides a strong platform to build on our combined expertise and extend our connection and protection products as part of a highly respected global company like ABB.”
