Powered On Live, an exclusive two-day digital conference for the electrical industry is just one week away, and there’s so much going on we wanted to give you the lowdown on all that you can expect!

Taking place on June 15 – 16, the event is due to kick off at 9:00am UK time with an introduction from Electrical Review’s Editor, Jordan O’Brien. This will kick off a half-days’ worth of fascinating sessions from some of the biggest names in the industry.

While the agenda is still being finalised, there’s already plenty to get excited about.

Day One – June 15

In fact, day one is full of sessions that are sure to inform, with Paul Verrill, Director of EnAppSys delivering the keynote speech in the morning. His session will break down the current energy crisis and what the industry can learn from the experience.

There’s plenty more to enjoy from day one, including two panel sessions that will explore some pretty hefty questions. For example, we’ve got Simon Orr, Net Zero Plan Lead from National Grid; Ita Kettleborough, Deputy Director at Energy Transitions Commission; and Dr Laura Schade, Energy Engineer – Senior Executive Officer at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) on a panel to discuss the challenges that the UK will face in its quest for net zero.

There’s also a panel on the hot topic that is nuclear energy, and whether it is needed for the UK to achieve energy independence and net zero. This is sure to be an interesting session to listen in on, but there will also be an opportunity to ask your own questions. With a panel full of experts, there’s never been a better opportunity to discuss this hot button issue.

Joining the two panels and keynote speaker on day one, we have Matthew Knight, Head of Market and Government Affairs at Siemens Energy, to talk all about decarbonising the grid; Jeremy Gadd, Owner and Managing Director of Covol Engineering Ltd, to discuss the dangers of Arc Flash; and Martyn Allen, Technology Director at Electrical Safety First, with a lowdown on the electrical safety lessons that need to be learned from Grenfell Tower.

Day Two – June 15

If you thought we reserved all the good stuff for day one, then you’ll be mistaken, because there’s plenty to be excited for on day two of Powered On Live.

We’ll kick off the day again at 9:00am with a recap of day one, as well as an introduction to what to expect from day two. Then we’re straight into the keynote session, which on day two will be delivered by Jon Berry, Data & Digitalisation Manager at Western Power Distribution. This session will once again highlight the quest for net zero, but delve deeper into how machine learning and a greater reliance on technology will help us decarbonise.

As for the panel sessions on day two, we’ll be joined by Kayla Ente, Chief Executive and Founder of Brighton and Hove Energy Services Co-operative; and Darren Jones, UK Technology Manager, Hitachi Energy, to discuss the increased usage of microgrids across the UK, and how they could be the perfect solution for reducing a company’s impact on the environment, as well as reduce their bills amidst the current energy crisis.

Our second panel session will feature Damien Kelly, Innovation Lead, Prospering from the Energy Revolution at Innovate UK; Phil Steele, Future Technologies Evangelist from Octopus Energy; and Jeremy Yapp, Head of Flexible Energy Systems at BEAMA. This session will be dedicated to answering the intermittency problem that faces renewables and what solutions are available.

Additionally on day two, we’re joined by Jason Yates, Technical Services Manager at Riello UPS Ltd, who will deliver a session all about Master+, a pioneering pilot project by Riello UPS in partnership with RWE that enables large-scale energy users, such as data centres and industrial plants, to rethink the role of their UPS.

And finally, Tom Callow, Head of External Affairs at myenergi, will answer the question: Why electric vehicles will be the gateway drug to energy independence and domestic decarbonisation.

As you can see, Powered On Live will be packed with essential information that you will not want to miss. So make sure you register for the event completely free of charge at https://poweredonlive.co.uk/
