Electricity North West has announced its new flexibility requirements, the sixth tender in the firm’s history, which comes on top of the 57MW of tenders already issued.
A total of 15.4MW of flexibility services are required in the areas of Claughton, Golborne, Higher Walton and Sebergham through a combination of secure and dynamic responses.
According to the company, this is the first flexibility tender in the UK to be issued using the newly agreed common definitions for active power flexibility services across Distribution Network Operators: sustain; secure; dynamic and restore.
Simon Brooke, head of distribution system operator transition said, “The use of industry agreed terminology for flexibility services is to help facilitate participation through the transparency and simplification of information available. This early adoption shows our commitment to remove barriers to entry into this nascent market and to encourage participation as much as possible.”
This Request for Proposal (RfP) opens for submissions on Friday 17 April and closes on Monday 18 May.
The full details of the services required can be found at www.enwl.co.uk/zero-carbon/flexible-services. Interested parties are asked to register via the Electricity North West website to guarantee participation.
