Yesss Electrical signs deals with Nest

Leading electrical wholesaler Yesss Electrical has agreed a distribution deal with Nest Labs for the rights to supply the new Nest Protect smoke and carbon monoxide alarm and the recently announced 3rd generation Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Cam.

Nest’s mission is to create a home that’s more thoughtful – one that takes care of itself and the people inside it.  The company focuses combining simple, beautiful and thoughtful hardware, software and services, to reinvent products like the thermostat and smoke alarm.

The new distribution deal will allow Yesss Electrical to stock and sell all three key products: the 3rd generation Nest Thermostat, Nest Protect and Nest Cam in all of its 90 stores and online.

The 3rd generation Nest Learning Thermostat learns the home temperature favoured by the user, then programs itself. It knows how long it takes to heat the home, ensuring it reaches a comfortable temperature by the time the homeowner wakes up. Once the home is vacated, it then turns itself down to save energy. As part of the product update, the Nest Thermostat is now also able to control the hot water tank.  Crucially, the Nest Thermostat can be controlled remotely and energy usage and savings can be monitored via the Nest App.

Also newly available from Yesss Electrical is the second generation of Nest Protect, an advanced smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarm, which provides spoken alerts on what and where the problem is. It can even send alerts to a mobile phone via the Nest app when something’s wrong. As soon as Nest Protect senses there’s a problem, it sounds a friendly ‘Heads‑Up’ warning so the homeowner can address the problem or evacuate the home. And at night, Nest Protect’s Pathlight glows white to light the user’s way in the dark as they pass below it.

In addition, looking to capitalise on the growing home security market, YESSS will also sell Nest Cam, a security camera which offers full high-definition (1080p) video quality, a versatile stand, and improved motion alerts and night vision, enabling people to keep an eye on what they care about from any location.

Nest products can deliver more by working together. For example, if Nest Protect’s carbon monoxide alarm goes off, a connected Nest Thermostat automatically turns off the gas or oil boiler – a frequent source of carbon monoxide leaks. Or, when a user leaves the home and sets the Nest Thermostat to ‘away’, it will automatically turn on the Nest Cam to protect the property.

Andy Singleton, director at Yesss Electrical, commented: “We are committed to offering our customers access to the very latest energy saving technologies. Nest’s complementary suites of products are beautifully designed, easy to use and – most importantly – deliver real benefits to the consumer in terms energy savings, safety and security.  We are confident the products will be well received by our customer base.”

Normanton-based Yesss Electrical, established in 2012, is one of the UK’s fastest growing companies and recently opened its 90th branch. Employing 850 staff nationwide, Yesss has plans to expand throughout 2016 to achieve a network of 150 UK branches.
