Comtec Enterprises, a leading provider of IT infrastructure, datacentre and communications solutions, has appointed Nick Ewing to its board of directors. Ewing will assume primary responsibility for Comtec’s sales strategy and direction as the company sets ambitious targets to double annual revenues in the coming 24 months.
Nick Ewing has worked with Comtec for 12 years, during which time he has held a number of roles. In 2007 he helped launch the company’s datacentre specialisation, and has since been closely associated with its success in this sector. As sales director, he has overseen the introduction and growth of Comtec’s multiple managed services offerings, which utilise the companies own datacentre infrastructure.
“The new role has enabled me to change from primarily developing face-to-face sales and take a more strategic role,” said Ewing. “It will allow me to shape the strategies for how we go to market, the solutions and services we offer and how Comtec works with our partners, suppliers and most importantly, our customers.”
Comtec plans to grow its annual revenues to the £15m mark during the next 24 months, and to reach £20m within four years. Key to achieving these goals, says Ewing, will be the provision to customers of cost effective, resilient and energy efficient IT infrastructure, established either on their own premises of provided as a managed service.
Nick Claxson, founder and managing director of Comtec said, “Our growth plans demand that we put the right people in the right positions at all levels. I am confident that Nick joining the Board will further strengthen our client offerings. During 12 years at the company, he has demonstrated the skills and commitment necessary to join the team in taking the company forward, growing our sales and service staff and delivering improved levels of service and efficiency to our customers.”
Comtec designs and builds scalable data centres to the highest energy-efficient standards. The company also provide resilient, cost-effective communications such as Layer 3 VPNs as an alternative or complement to Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS). Comtec enables customers to manage big data efficiently with backup and disaster-recovery services that combine security with WAN optimisation.
Comtec also offers high-performance and cost-effective managed services delivered from its own resilient cluster of data centres. This area in particular will see more investment in personnel and infrastructure to broaden the range of services offered following Nick Ewing’s appointment.
The company’s portfolio of industry-leading vendors including APC, Schneider Electric, Cisco, Actifio, HP, Microsoft and NetApp, gives Comtec the means to provide the best possible converged-infrastructure solutions combining leading-edge performance with streamlined management and ease of use.
