Saft, a designer and manufacturer of advanced technology batteries for industry, was honoured by the Energy Storage Association (ESA) with the Brad Roberts Outstanding Industry Achievement Award during the ESA’s 25th Annual Conference & Expo, that took place on 28 May in Dallas, Texas. Saft was lauded for its support of the ESA and for its leading role in providing a range of battery systems and technologies that deliver reliable and efficient energy storage in both off-grid and on-grid applications.
The award, now in its third year, honours the late Brad Roberts’ leadership role in the storage industry, including critical power system design and energy storage technology.
“Saft is grateful to receive an award from the ESA with Brad’s name on it. His role in the development of the ESA is unmatched, along with the passion he displayed for advancing the energy storage industry as a whole,” said Blake Frye, vice president of sales and energy Storage at Saft. “From smart homes to smart grids, renewable energy storage is vital, and Saft is dedicated to providing world-class power and energy solutions that span the electricity value chain and are measured in everything from kilowatts to megawatts.”
Since becoming a member of the ESA, Saft has been committed to the association’s work and is an active member of its Leadership Circle.
Saft’s lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery technology for energy storage combines system management and safety functions. Systems are delivered in comprehensive packages ranging from small distributed units to complete containers, with high round-trip efficiency, high charge retention and long life, significantly reducing environmental impact. Saft has a long history in energy storage starting back in 1998 and continuing with the deployment of the record-breaking Golden Valley BESS in Fairbanks in 2003, still in reliable operation today, and currently with greater than 100MW of energy storage systems deployed/under contract. Saft has met the needs of the industry by providing reliable energy storage solutions for a broad range of applications – from remote microgrids to serving major utility providers worldwide. Saft’s solutions are also proven across a variety of climates from -50°C in the Arctic, to +55°C in the hot deserts of central California.
