The meeting place of the Energy Supply&Chain Energy costs are rising and legislation is changing – this presents a huge financial challenge for organisations. With Exhibitors such as British Gas, RWE nPower, SSE, RBS Group, The Energy Institute and Honeywell, EMEX is the event to attend if you are responsible for reducing your organisation’s energy spend and consumption.

EMEX is a free to attend annual event that takes place at ExCeL, London in November 2014. Organised in partnership with the Energy Managers Association (EMA), EMEX has exclusive content in four free educational seminar theatres. Each theatre showcases case studies, research, expert presentations and a first look at important legislative changes. Many sessions are CPD accredited. Each of the seminar theatres will focus on a key industry topic: Energy Management Training, Energy Service & Performance Contracting, Energy Use in the Built Environment and Green IT & Technology.

EMEX exhibitors range from major utilities to brokers and consultants, equipment manufacturers to training companies and their customers. Whatever the size of your business there is opportunity to find out more about wise energy consumption. A jam-packed event programme offers valuable industry insights, and looks at the latest and upcoming legislative changes and how these are affecting businesses in the UK – all key to understanding the risk, regulation and opportunities of being an energy consumer.

By the time EMEX opens its’ doors in November, organisations will have one month to ascertain whether they are affected by the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) and a further one year to carry out an assessment. ONE + ONE is an information campaign aimed at educating the approximately 10,000 organisations affected about their legal obligations. In addition, and just as importantly, it explains the potential energy savings opportunities.

The Energy Institute and the EMA will discuss the practical aspects and how best to carry out assessments within your business in order to make change. Furthermore, EMEX will explain how major energy users like Morrisons Supermarkets plc have been successful in rolling out large energy efficiency programmes, and how other businesses can learn from them.

Find out how the EMA are actively demystifying energy performance contracting, particularly through development of the EnPC Guidance and Code. Many of the organisations helping to develop the Guidance will showcase at EMEX, including British Gas, RWE nPower, EEVS. One of the highlights is the case study of the country’s biggest energy performance contact, bringing together legal input (Pinsent Masons), the energy supplier (Honeywell) and the customer (Peterborough Borough Council).

The vast array of options and lack of well understood financial mechanisms are often the biggest stumbling blocks when introducing energy efficiency programmes. At EMEX, RBS will explain some of the many choices in this area and how to make them work for you. In a similar vein, Utilitywise’s Tim Hipperson explains why it is sometimes prudent to use an energy purchaser.

With so much knowledge and expertise on offer, it is not surprising that names such as 3M, Hilton Worldwide, Fujitsu, Microsoft and Schneider Electric are confirmed to attend EMEX – as well as representatives from the NHS, Ministry of Justice and local councils.
