Cibse announces shortlist for Building Performance Awards 2013

The shortlist for the Building Performance Awards 2013, hosted by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (Cibse), has been confirmed today. The winners of the categories will be announced on 5 February, 2013 at Grosvenor House, London.

The importance of sharing best practice in building performance has been further highlighted last week by the release of the government’s Energy Efficiency Strategy. In the UK, buildings consume over 40% of the overall energy used. With technology and engineering knowledge, top performers at previous Building Performance Awards showed how fuel usage can be slashed by up to 50%.

Ofgem has warned by 2015/16 there could be just a 4% or lower margin in UK installed energy capacity. This shows demand side reduction, exemplified by the Building Performance Awards, is a matter of urgency.

The Cibse Building Performance Awards are designed to involve clients and the full supply chain, as well as giving recognition to the role of building services engineers, and reward best performance, innovation and practice.

Cibse president, David Fisk, says: “We have the technology and engineering know-how to make a difference in both energy management and usage in our industry. These Awards celebrate that and highlight projects where everyone has focused in achieving measurable outcomes from best practice.”
