Surge protection for power supplies

Electrical Review Logo

Meeting the requirements of both the BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations (17th Edition Amendment 1) and IEC61643-1, the modular Red/Line range of Surge Protection modules from Dehn offer the advantages of DIN rail mounting, pluggable protection modules and are fully energy co-ordinated to offer optimum protection.

Where the building has an external lightning protection system, overhead supply lines or equipment at risk of a direct lightning strike, Type 1 lightning current arrestors should be used. The Type 1 Dehnventil range meets the requirements of BSEN62305 with models suitable for all lightning protection levels.

For many applications where the requirement is to provide surge protection only, Type 2 and Type 3 surge protection devices (SPDs) play a critical role in protecting sensitive electronic equipment.

Dehn SPD’s can also be supplied in IP65 enclosures as part of the popular DSP range simplifying installation.
