Advertorial: New DECI Modular – The UPS that grows with your business

Metartec, one of the leading critical power specialists in Northern Ireland, has launched its new DECI Modular, the UPS for now and for the future.

The biggest appeal for the DECI Modular unit is its capability for easy expansion. Previously when a customer’s load increased, the original UPS had to be replaced with a new and higher capacity system. With the DECI Modular UPS there is no need to replace the whole UPS, as only the required number of modules for expansion need to be added.

Due to the ‘hot swappable’ power modules, the unit is almost entirely self contained as each UPS module works with complete functionality and can be added or removed online while the UPS is still running. Its modular design also allows for easy maintenance which reduces the customer’s cost of ownership, making it a more cost-effective critical power solution.

DECI Modular units are available in 120kVA and 200kVA frames with power modules available in 10kVA and 20kVA, allowing users to choose the power requirement according to their needs, and the DECI Modular’s capacity can reach 400kVA by paralleling two 200kVA frames with ten 20kVA modules in each unit

Other exciting products recently introduced by Metartec include the new Nano Versi and Micro Versi UPS. These units give the user the flexibility of positioning the UPS in a rack frame or using it simply as a tower unit. They are available in line interactive and double conversion models and range from 1.5kVA to 3kVA. These units are perfect power protection for mission-critical devices such as sensitive networks, computer centres, servers, telecom and industrial applications.

New Service

Metartec now offers thermal imaging as a value added solution within their extensive service portfolio. Thermography is carried out with a thermal imaging camera and highlights hot and cold spots within an image. Mostly used in the electricity sector, it can detect faulty connections, components and motors that may be running at a higher temperature than normal.

Thermal imaging is often referred to as the first defence in a predictive and preventative maintenance and is one of the most non-intrusive, non-invasive and non-destructive diagnostic tools for predictive maintenance. By detecting anomalies often invisible to the naked eye, thermography allows corrective action to be taken before costly system failures occur.

Metartec uses thermal imaging equipment as a cost and time saving test tool for troubleshooting, maintenance and inspection of electrical applications including UPS’s, HV and LV switchgear, distribution equipment, bus bar sections, substation equipment, fuses, lighting, pumps, fans, compressors and transformers.

Success

Metartec has developed a very strong relationship with Interoute, the operator of Europe’s most advanced and densely connected voice and data network, supplying the company with uninterruptible power supplies and associated services for many different applications throughout the UK. The new DECI Modular unit has been successfully implemented within Interoute’s applications due to its flexibility and capacity to reduce cost of ownership, providing Interoute with a solution that is almost entirely self-maintained, reducing down time and remedial costs.

In an extremely competitive industry, the prestigious contract win demonstrates that Metartec’s own brand of open protocol UPS and extensive critical power portfolio, combined with its tailor-made approach to service has provided the company with the competitive edge within the power protection industry.

Metartec is also excited about its recent installation and commissioning of a three phase, 60kVA modular UPS system at the National Space Centre in Cork. Providing world-class carrier grade teleport facilities from Elfordstown Earthstation, the centre is the backbone behind the data transfer network between Ireland and the USA. The project was commissioned in July and continues to be a great success.
