Simplify virtual server shutdown

Electrical Review Logo

Eaton has launched the latest version of its Intelligent Power Manager software that gives Information Technology (IT) managers improved monitoring and management of servers in a cluster within VMware's vSphere application for virtualised environments.

When power is compromised, vSphere users can direct Eaton's Intelligent Power Manager to remotely shut down servers in a cluster. Instead of installing software on each host server within the cluster, IT managers access Intelligent Power Manager on the vCenter Server, the vSphere management application. From the vCenter Server, host servers are remotely shut down in the affected cluster, including servers from which virtual machines are moved. When the power returns, Intelligent Power Manager reboots the server automatically – eliminating the need for the IT manager to be on site.
