The Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET) has today issued a last call for entries for its 2011 Innovation Awards , celebrating the brightest minds at the forefront of innovative engineering. With free entry and the deadline for nominations set for 29 July, the IET is urging the most innovative companies and individuals from all over the world to submit their products, systems and equipment, as well as intelligent design, projects, analysis, research and modelling, for recognition.
Existing entries already range from a sensor for earthquake prediction, to new techniques for efficient hydrocarbon extraction, to a cure for snoring. There are only a couple of weeks left to submit entries to one of 15 categories including transport, built environment, software in design and embedded and critical systems.
The awards will be presented at a glittering ceremony, to be held at the Intercontinental Hotel, London on 9 November 2011, details about how to enter can be found here . This year's awards are sponsored by a variety of well established innovators, including ABB, Altran Praxis, Lloyds Register, The Mathworks, National Grid and NPL.
