Fire detection and prevention

Electrical Review Logo

While life safety is the priority with Fire Alarm system design, one of the main criteria is automatic detection. The enforcing authority responsible for the building or premises would insist on smoke or heat detectors. Depending on the application there are different types of Firesafe detectors available.

Optical – sometimes know as the photoelectric smoke detector, it typically operates on the principle of infra red light refracting off smoke particles entering the chamber.

The chamber within this unit is highly tolerant to the inevitable long term build up of dust and other airborne contaminations.

Combined Photo Thermal – today's replacement to the ionisation detector that is becoming more of an issue to the environment and local authorities where disposal is concerned.
Made up of both a photoelectric chamber and a thermal element to provide the contractor with an option of a true multi-criteria unit when installing the product.
