SummitSkills, the Sector Skills Council for Building Services Engineering (BSE), welcomes the appointment of a new chairman to CITB-ConstructionSkills.
James Wates, who has been a board member for seven years, will take over from the current chairman, Sir Michael Latham, at the end of March.
Keith Marshall OBE, chief executive of SummitSkills said of the appointment:
"I would like to congratulate James on his appointment as chairman of CITB-ConstructionSkills. This comes at a crucial time for the broader built environment sector which is seeing the first early signs of economic recovery. Ensuring the sector has the right training and skills opportunities will be key to ensuring the sector's long-term future.
"SummitSkills has always worked closely in partnership with CITB-ConstructionSkills reflecting the different needs of our respective sectors, while recognising many areas of mutual interest. The support provided by Sir Michael in our early days was invaluable. We would like to acknowledge the outstanding contribution he has made both as chairman and to the wider built environment and skills sectors.
Moving forward we look forward to working with James and continuing our close relationship with CITB-ConstructionSkills".
