HellermannTyton has taken the bronze at the BAe Systems Surface Fleet Solutions Chairman's Awards. The company was rewarded for its part in a working team that specified cable management products for electrical installations aboard the new Type 45 Destroyer warship.

The experts included in the ‘nylon tie use for final cable securing team' underwent a rigorous specification process to ensure the cable management products chosen for the Destroyer would deliver the high performance expected for MoD projects.

HellermannTyton specified and manufactured the T50RVO, T50LVO and T120RVO cable ties, which are all VO rated (achieving flame retardant standards). The team was nominated for the award after achieving significant time savings for BAe Systems, as well as reducing assembly costs for cable installations on the project.

Andrew Parmenter, head of marketing for HellermannTyton, said: "We are really thrilled to have been part of the team which scooped the BAe Systems Surface Fleet Solutions Chairman's bronze award. Over the last few years, we have worked closely with the MoD and its suppliers, and have now established our credentials in this sector. Manufacturing cable ties at our own facility in Manchester ensures we can innovate and adapt to the needs of different sectors and applications, offering a high quality, integral product tailored to the application it is specified for."

The award nomination was assessed online by three independent judges and then reviewed by the chairman's award panel. The team, including a representative from HellermannTyton, collected the award at a special event in Glasgow.
