Gorselands Nursing Home has ensured when power cuts occur it can provide round the clock care for its patients as well as support for staff by installing a backup generator from integrated power solutions company, Scorpion Power Systems.
Replacing a smaller generator with limited functionality, the 80kVA automatic mains failure system from Scorpion ensures an unbreakable power supply to all electrical equipment including medical apparatus, IT, kitchen equipment, lighting, lifts and telephones when outages occur.
Supplied in a weatherproof and acoustic canopy, the Scorpion diesel generator has been installed in a bund to retain any diesel spillage. It is fitted with a water jacket heater, which is designed to keep the engine at optimum temperature for fast and efficient start-up and rapid load acceptance.
“As we are situated in a rural area, where powercuts occasionally occur because overhead cables are brought down in the wind, we felt we needed to upgrade our generator to ensure all the facilities in the nursing home were protected against power outages”, says Keith Gibbs, proprietor of Gorselands Nursing Home.
The Scorpion generator will ensure power to the home’s extensive facilities, which includes a passenger lift, laundry, large kitchen, three reception rooms, dining room and staff quarters
