ABB Ltd has appointed Greenwoods Communications – an independent network solutions provider to the communications industry – as a strategic UK distributor to the telecomms market. The partnership will enable ABB to increase its market share to double digits within the telecomms sector as a low voltage control gear component supplier and comes on the back of ABB’s acquisition of Entrelec, who were a leading supplier of DIN rail connectors to the sector.

While the strategic partnership will consolidate ABB’s position within the competitive telecomms sector, it will also strengthen the range of products Greenwoods is able to supply to its customers by specifying ABB’s electrical components that are a fundamental part of Greenwoods core telecommunications offering. This means Greenwoods customers and engineers now have a one-stop-shop for their network solutions.

Some of the products that will be supplied under the partnership include: ABB’s miniature circuit breaker (MCB) range, energy meters, surge protectors, switch rail power supply and a variety of DIN rail mounted components.
Greenwoods and ABB will be working together closely to ensure that their customers draw the maximum benefit from the partnership through various product training schemes, market initiatives and sales promotions. Discussions are also ongoing with regards to expanding the partnership in terms of a wider product range and working association.
