Segen has signed a six-month exclusive distribution agreement with EV charging infrastructure provider 3ti to supply its rapid-deploy smart solar EV Charging FastHub, Papilio3, in the UK.
The companies say the deal is intended to give installers and EPCs a ‘ready-to-sell’ commercial charging option at a time when many sites are struggling to expand EV charging because of constrained grid capacity, planning requirements and long project timelines.
The FastHub is described as a free-standing, rapid-deploy solution designed for car parks and fleet settings. It offers 12 fast-charging 22 kW AC points and is designed to operate using an organisation’s existing grid connection, with 3ti’s power management technology managing the available capacity.
Segen said the agreement will make the product available exclusively through its distribution channels for the next six months.
“Commercial customers are facing a perfect storm: EV adoption is accelerating, but grid capacity, planning constraints and long installation timelines are holding back charging rollout. The FastHub addresses this challenge head-on by giving businesses a fast, scalable, clean energy charging solution that can be deployed almost instantly,” noted Spencer Conday, Managing Director, Segen UK & Ireland.
“For installers, this opens up a significant new opportunity. Instead of navigating complex, multi-year projects, they can offer customers a rapid-deploy system that sidesteps grid upgrades, reduces installation complexity, and delivers immediate value. With this product in our portfolio, we’re enabling Segen customers to expand their services, win more commercial work, and meet the growing demand for dependable EV charging infrastructure.”
Designed for quick installation and constrained sites
3ti’s FastHub combines EV charging with on-site solar generation and integrated site features. The unit’s solar provision is a 20 kWp array mounted on the roof, supported by two adjustable wings designed to be angled to maximise generation based on the site’s location and surrounding features.
The system’s power management is designed to balance demand between on-site solar generation, grid-supplied electricity and the EV charging load in real time.
3ti positions the unit as suitable for workplace, destination charging and fleet use cases, particularly where the alternative would be a longer programme involving enabling works, significant groundwork and potentially a grid connection upgrade.
In terms of site requirements, the FastHub is designed to fit within a 40ft footprint and to be deployed in car parks with at least 12 parking spaces arranged in two back-to-back rows. The unit also includes integrated lighting, CCTV and a roof canopy.
Segen and 3ti also point to potential applications in rural areas, where limited grid capacity can be a practical barrier to rolling out higher volumes of charging points, particularly for organisations looking to electrify fleets on a fixed timetable.
Early deployments in public sector and commercial fleets
3ti said the FastHub has been deployed since a soft launch in 2021, including by public sector organisations such as the police, the NHS and Network Rail, as well as by commercial operators. One such installation has been covered by Electrical Review in the past.
Segen itself has installed a system at its training academy and distribution centre in Medway, Kent. The company says the installation provides EV charging for staff and trainees, and acts as a showcase site.
“Initial demand for the Smart Solar EV Charging FastHub has been exceptionally strong, and we’re now focused on expanding access to make this technology more widely available,” added Jamie Birch, Sales Director at 3ti.
“Partnering with Segen was the obvious choice. As the UK’s largest distributor of renewable technologies, they bring unmatched expertise, an extensive customer network and deep knowledge of our solution. Together, we can accelerate the rollout of EV charging infrastructure, helping end users to access reliable, scalable EV charging with minimal disruption and maximum efficiency.”
The 3ti smart solar EV Charging FastHub, Papilio3, is available to order now exclusively through Segen under the new agreement.
