myenergi ditches the screen with launch of Zappi Glo EV charger

myenergi has broadened its line-up of EV chargers with the launch of Zappi Glo, a 7 kW single-phase unit that forgoes screens and buttons in favour of full control via the myenergi app.

Unlike earlier models, Zappi Glo is intended as a true plug-and-go solution: with myenergi noting that users can simply connect and walk away, or delve into the app to set schedules, adjust charging modes and track performance in real time. For businesses who want to restrict access, or for households with multiple cars, an RFID ‘tap-to-charge’ feature grants secure access to up to 126 individual users

The company has also implemented energy-tariff integration that lets drivers automatically charge when electricity is cheapest and greenest, while built-in solar compatibility, which was a key feature of the original Zappi EV charger, enables surplus rooftop generation to be diverted straight into the car. The unit also includes Grid Protection and hooks into myenergi’s Gridpay service, rewarding households for easing pressure on the network during peak demand.

myenergi has also focused on the installer experience. An all-new Assistant App guides electricians through commissioning step by step, a process the firm says will shave valuable minutes off each job and ensure consistent set-ups across multiple sites.

Andrew Clint, Group CEO at myenergi, commented, “The launch of zappi GLO marks the next exciting chapter in our remarkable journey. Specifically designed for the EV driver of tomorrow, GLO represents the future of plug-and-go charging technology – effortless operation, eco-smart capability, out-of-the-box tariff integration and unmatched functionality without the complexity.

“The first device in a series of game-changing energy management technologies, each designed to challenge convention and revolutionise home energy, GLO demonstrates our ambitions for the future. Borne out of customer feedback, the revolutionary device aligns perfectly with the market’s desire for total charging simplicity, while still delivering powerful, intelligent, sophisticated functionality.”

The Zappi Glo is available now, while the existing Zappi 2.1 will remain on sale alongside it. We’re also still waiting on myenergi to release a new EV charger that supports vehicle-to-grid capabilities, which the firm confirmed that it had begun working on late last year.
