In the Spotlight… Enhancing data centre sustainability with EnerSys’ DataSafe XE

In the latest edition of In the Spotlight, we sit down with Michael Sagar, Director of Marketing, Energy Systems Global at EnerSys.

During the 10 minute discussion, we discussed how Enersys’ DataSafe XE batteries could be the ideal solution for data centres looking to reduce carbon emissions, optimise space usage, and help operators meet stringent sustainability targets across Europe.

According to Sagar, the compact footprint of DataSafe XE frees up more space for revenue-generating servers, while its TPPL design is intended to lower both operational costs and environmental impact. The discussion also touched on the importance of balancing grid requirements, with references to EnerSys’ work on grid-balancing strategies and fast frequency response solutions.

With a myriad of other benefits, such as local manufacturing in France and the UK, Sagar took the opportunity to highlight Enersys’ commitment to meeting evolving sustainability regulations while maintaining operational reliability. By collaborating with clients to optimise energy strategies, EnerSys hopes to contribute to a data centre landscape that balances performance, cost, and environmental responsibilities.
