Riello plans to merge UK businesses under one subsidiary

Riello Elettronica Group, the Italian manufacturer best known for its Riello UPS line-up, has announced plans to merge its three UK subsidiaries into one single entity.

The Italian firm currently operates in the UK as Riello UPS Ltd, Constant Power Services and Powertecnique, although effective from January 1, 2025, the plan is to fold everything into the Riello UPS brand.

According to Riello, the integration of Constant Power Services and Powertecnique with Riello UPS will combine the strengths and expertise of the three entities, aiming to better meet the growing and diverse needs of their customers.

Following the merger, Riello UPS will see its workforce increase significantly, from just under 90 to over 180 employees, with a particular boost in engineering resources. The company will also expand its physical presence beyond its 27,500 square foot headquarters in Wrexham, North Wales, to include two additional offices in the south of England and another facility in Scotland.

Leo Craig, Managing Director of Riello UPS, expressed enthusiasm about the merger, stating, “We are excited to unite Constant Power Services and Powertecnique under the Riello UPS Ltd banner. This merger is a significant milestone that will enhance our ability to deliver even stronger service and innovative solutions to our customers. We are confident that this strategic move will create new opportunities for major growth and success in the future.”

What does this merger mean for customers?

Well, let’s start by establishing what each company has specialised in. Of course, Riello UPS is known for its wide array of UPS systems, ranging from smaller devices for office use to larger, industrial-grade systems. The company has also offered comprehensive maintenance support to customers, promising 100% guaranteed response and fix times with no hidden charges.

Meanwhile, Constant Power Services has specialised in the production and maintenance of UPS systems, static transfer switches, and generators. It offers a range of solutions including line interactive UPS, lithium battery solutions, and a variety of power protection systems aimed at sectors like banking, healthcare, and telecommunications.

Finally, Powertecnique is recognised for its expertise in designing and manufacturing backup power systems, including UPS and diesel generators. It has carved out a niche in providing robust power solutions that ensure continuity and reliability, particularly in critical power situations.

It’s clear from the outset that the three companies complement each other, therefore it’s not exactly a surprise to see Riello Elettronica Group make the decision to merge them under the Riello banner in the UK. Especially as, according to the company, the merger will offer the following benefits:

Enhanced Service Capabilities: The merger combines a wealth of technical knowledge and experience from the three companies, ensuring comprehensive support for customers from installation to maintenance and emergency response.

Expanded Product Portfolio: Customers will have access to a wider range of high-quality UPS systems and power solutions, enabling the provision of tailored solutions to meet the needs of various industries.

Improved Customer Support: The combined resources will enhance the customer support infrastructure, ensuring more efficient communication, faster response times, and better availability of technical assistance.

Stronger Market Presence: By consolidating their resources and capabilities, the merged entity will strengthen its competitive edge and market presence in the UK, enhancing its ability to deliver value to customers and reinforcing its position as an industry leader.
