Could hydrogen be the key to cleaner backup power?

At Powered On Live 2024, Robin Futcher, Managing Director of Commercial Fuel Solutions, delivered a presentation on the potential of hydrogen in revolutionising backup power solutions and decentralised energy systems.

Futcher, with over 27 years of engineering experience, highlighted the significant role hydrogen could play in decarbonising power generation in sectors heavily reliant on diesel generators, such as construction and event hosting.

The presentation detailed how hydrogen, with its high energy density and ability to be used in extreme conditions, presents a viable alternative to traditional fossil fuels. Futcher also discussed the technological advancements and regulatory challenges involved in adopting hydrogen-based systems. With extensive experience on international technical committees for gaseous hydrogen storage and fueling, his insights into the transition towards clean energy were particularly poignant.

For a deeper understanding of how hydrogen technology can lead to more sustainable energy practices and potentially transform the landscape of backup power generation, watch the full video of Robin Futcher’s session above.
