Siemens, Enlighted announce strategic alliance with Zumtobel

Siemens and its property technology subsidiary, Enlighted, have announced a strategic alliance with Zumtobel Group.

Siemens and its property technology subsidiary, Enlighted, have announced a strategic alliance with Zumtobel Group.

The alliance is aimed at pushing forward smart building technologies with a focus on intelligent IoT lighting solutions, with the companies hoping to redefine standards for building efficiency and sustainability globally.

The partnership’s main feature is the integration of Enlighted’s smart sensor technology into Zumtobel Group’s lighting products, including both Zumtobel and Thorn brands. This collaboration is expected to produce a wide range of IoT smart lighting solutions, which Siemens says will enhance the environment for occupants and promote energy-efficient operations in buildings, particularly in the commercial, higher education, and healthcare sectors.

Alfred Felder, CEO of Zumtobel Group, stated, “Bringing together two leaders of smart lighting technology creates an opportunity to innovate and accelerate the delivery of advanced IoT solutions to our customers. The combination of these brands will elevate the smart building market and expand what is possible in terms of functionality, efficiency, and user experience.”

The collaboration will offer prefabricated bundles that combine Zumtobel Group’s lighting fixtures with Enlighted’s sensors for both new constructions and retrofit projects, simplifying the ordering process and optimising delivery.

Siemens says that the use of Enlighted’s wireless network design promises an efficient deployment process, avoiding complex wiring and ensuring accurate installations. Additionally, intelligent lighting configurations, enhanced with smart IoT data collection and analysis, will facilitate real-time location systems (RTLS) for tracking assets and badges within buildings, supporting advanced operational decisions. Furthermore, this initiative is supported by the Siemens Xcelerator Marketplace, facilitating digital transformation.

Dave Hopping, CEO of Solutions and Services at Siemens Smart Infrastructure, remarked, “With valuable insights and analytics, smart lighting solutions can enable more intelligent decision-making, and drive sustainable innovation to transform interactions with the built environment. With the shared vision of this partnership, we are dedicated to providing solutions which prioritise occupant wellbeing and pave the way for significant energy savings and IoT data solutions.”

This partnership is also expected to bolster Siemens’ offerings in solutions and services, aiding customers in achieving their energy reduction, decarbonisation, and sustainability targets.
