Net Zero Lighting Conference 2024 set for May in London

The Lighting Industry Association (LIA) and Recolight have joined forces to host the Net Zero Lighting Conference 2024, taking place on May 2, 2024 in London.

The conference will focus on manufacturing practices in the lighting industry that are geared towards achieving net zero emissions, encompassing areas such as strategy, materials, energy, packaging, and best practices. It will feature insights from various industry experts and key figures.

The conference will begin with an introduction from Ayça Donaghy, CEO of The Lighting Industry Association, followed by a presentation from Nigel Harvey, CEO of Recolight, discussing his organisation’s experiences and achievements in reducing their carbon footprint.

The primary objective of the conference is to address actionable steps that lighting manufacturers can implement to lower carbon emissions across their operations, contributing to a low carbon economy. This event is a result of both organisations recognising the crucial significance of this subject in the lighting industry, leveraging their collective expertise in the field.

Ayça Donaghy, CEO of The LIA, commented on the collaboration, stating, “The LIA is pleased to announce our collaboration with Recolight as we collectively drive the industry to achieve Net Zero. The transition to a net zero economy is a necessity. There is a growing demand from specifiers and customers for verified green credentials, such as embodied carbon and circular economy capability. Governments will likely follow suit.

“Manufacturers need definitive guidance, professional assistance, and industry-wide coordination. It’s time to shift from discussion to action, making carbon auditing as routine and comparable as financial audits. Net zero is our collective responsibility.”

Nigel Harvey, CEO of Recolight, added, “2023 was the hottest year ever recorded, highlighting the climate crisis as the defining challenge of our generation. Every organisation must strive for net zero, despite the significant challenges it presents. Recolight is excited to partner with the LIA to assist our industry in addressing this critical task.”

This partnership between the LIA and Recolight aims to support their members and the broader industry in their journey to full decarbonisation.

The conference invites participants from the lighting manufacturing industry for a day of learning and practical approaches to propel the sector towards a sustainable and environmentally aware future.
