Capula has been awarded a secure edge digital platform project with National Grid that will support the continued digitalisation of assets and processes in preparation of a net zero capable energy network.

Funded via OFGEM through the Network Innovation Allowance (NIA), the innovation project has been designed to investigate new solutions for operational data collection and reporting, as well as the application of edge computing technologies and security.

Commenting on the award of this innovation project Kris Bradshaw, Capula Sales and Marketing Director, noted, “Having delivered exceptional support to National Grid for more than 28 years, we are proud to continue to support them as they continue on their net-zero journey.

“Our heritage in industrial automation and control, and the use of IEC61850 standards for SCADA systems, will be combined with the application of Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) technologies securely to deliver an open information data architecture platform that can support optimised asset management, operational and system data reporting capability.”

With the energy network transition requiring more agile, flexible and interconnected networks this project will support further technology projects for digital twin applications, system awareness and analysis tools as well as enhanced system integrity and protection,
