P4 has been awarded its very first BSI Kitemark certification, after the company’s Fastel automatic emergency lighting testing and monitoring systems managed to pass the rigorous tests set by the British Standard Institution.

The Fastel range received the BSI Kitemark BS EN 62034:2012 automatic test systems for battery powered emergency escape lighting. The company officially received the honour at LuxLive, which took place from November 13 to 14, 2019.

Not only did P4 have to have its products put through the paces in order to gain the certification, the company also found its manufacturing sites and quality plans undergo comprehensive assessment.

P4 managing director, Rob Warner, explained why it was a significant step for the company, “We’re always looking for ways to improve our service and the Kitemark certification – recognised globally as a mark of quality, safety and trust – does just that. We believe it sets us apart as a manufacturer that really cares about quality.”

Retaining Kitemark approval is an ongoing process. The company will undergo bi-annual manufacturing assessments, with product samples being taken for ongoing testing and review.

Warner concluded, “The whole process of certification has helped us fine-tune our performance. But testing our systems is just the first step for us. We are continuing to work with BSI to achieve certification across all of our product ranges. We’re absolutely committed to this initiative and hope that it will help customers choose an emergency lighting system which has met the highest possible standards for quality, safety and performance.”
