Tuya Smart, the brand that promises to help OEMs and manufacturers add ‘smart’ functionality to whatever product they wish, is partnering up with Samsung SmartThings to bolster the smart buildings space.
The Tuya Smart platform, which bills itself as product agnostic, protocol agnostic, region agnostic and supplier agnostic, recently completed the Samsung Works With SmartThings Certification. This means that products leveraging the Tuya Smart platform will be able to integrate with the Samsung SmartThings automation system.
The first manufacturer leveraging the ‘Powered by Tuya’ platform that will take advantage of the new-found compatibility with SmartThings is Globe Electric. Globe makes a range of lighting solutions, power products and security solutions, and it’s smart line-up will now link up to Samsung’s SmartThings.
“SmartThings makes it easy for consumers to get the most from their devices. Our partnership with Tuya and Samsung enables us to integrate this added ease of use to Globe’s suite of connected lighting and electrical products, making for a great user experience – one of our core values,” said Adam Chaimberg, chief merchandising officer of Globe Electric.
Robert Parker, CTO of Samsung SmartThings, added, “Samsung SmartThings recognises the richness of the ‘Powered by Tuya’ smart ecosystem, and the AI+IoT product empowerment model of Tuya embodies the intelligent transformation of the global smart home industry.”
“As the leading IoT platform, Tuya is committed to promoting cross-brand and category interoperability,” said Alex Yang, COO and co-founder of Tuya.
“Our partnership with Samsung, and the WWST certification, provides us with an excellent opportunity to expand our platform and customers.”
