NAPIT raise money in aid of member

NAPIT has held a charity event to raise money for member Matt Carter.

Matt Carter, an electrician from Bakewell, fell from a ladder while on a job in December last year. The fall was only five feet, but he landed on his head causing life changing injuries. Since the accident, Matt’s family and friends have had to fight for him to receive the care he needs. He is unable to live at home and is now at a rehabilitation centre, STEPS in Sheffield. Matt’s wife and children (two boys aged seven and eight) visit often, but family life will never be the same again.

The event, named “Don’t worry, be hippie”, started off with a laughing yoga team building session to get all the NAPIT team connected and in high spirits before the fundraising games and activities began.

Staff paid a small fee to take part in activities, including tarot card reading and henna tattoos, as well as getting a chance to win on the tombola and raffle. NAPIT staff raised an impressive £561.70 on the day with all proceeds going to Matt and his family.

Mike Andrews, NAPIT group chief executive said, “There is always an astounding effort from staff at NAPIT when fundraising for charity. This year was no exception and was particularly important to us as we are helping one of our own. Matt Carter has been a NAPIT member for seven years and we were all moved to hear about his unfortunate accident at work. We couldn’t think of a more worthy cause to raise money for this summer and wish Matt a speedy recovery.”

NAPIT would like to say a special thank you to everyone who donated prizes for the raffle, including Bawtry Paintball & Laser Fields, Darwin Forest in Matlock, Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, Thornton’s and to The John Fretwell Sporting Complex for hosting the event at their venue.
