Quartzelec recently provided instant response when a multinational manufacturer experienced critical power loss problems with an 11kV circuit breaker at one of its UK facilities.
When a publicly-listed multinational construction materials manufacturer experienced a dramatic loss of high voltage (HV) supply at one of its UK production facilities in the early hours of the morning, it called upon Quartzelec to investigate the issue get the power back on.
Within two hours of the call being received, Quartzelec’s HV engineer in the region had attended the site, undertaken extensive system diagnostics, identified the fault in an 11kV circuit breaker, and resolved the problem. Not only was the HV supply restored, but the client’s on-site engineering team had been fully informed throughout, ensuring total transparency of the problem, a clear resolution timeline and all with minimal downtime to this important facility.
“The technical service we received was prompt and the reassuring and knowledgeable advice was outstanding; getting us back on track with the minimum of disruption,” stated the multinationals’ on-site electrical engineering manager. “Based on the strategic advice also provided during the visit, we are now looking to have trained personnel on-site, to support and supplement our safety understanding of the HV switchgear.”
Bryn Morris, business unit director of Quartzelec’s Wrexham based operations cadded, “We’ve seen a dramatic increase in demand over the past year for our emergency response services, particularly as customers look to more cost effectively meet operational requirements – but safety always remains a priority. Quartzelec has a wealth of knowledge and experience and we are increasingly being called upon to solve technical HV system issues both at UK facilities and internationally.”
