Training provider JTL is celebrating the successes of three of its apprentices in the World Skills UK Competition. The three, all electrical apprentices, took part in qualifier competitions in Birmingham and Chichester recently.

The WorldSkills Competition is an event, held every year and is the one of the biggest vocational education and skills excellence event in the world that reflects global industry. The three JTL apprentices that took part this year were Ellis Morris, Rhiann Hartwell and Ben Ellis.

Ellis Morris (pictured) was winner of the National Qualifier for the World Skills UK Electrical competition at South & City College Birmingham on 17 May. He’s from Acocks Green in Birmingham and works for O R Building Services Ltd, in Knowle, Solihull.

His JTL training officer is Ray Smith who was hugely impressed by Ellis’s achievement: “He’s studying a Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification (Installation) and is in his second year of his apprenticeship. He’s clearly been a star for us and has worked extremely hard to get to this level. We’re all very proud of him and delighted that he has won the regional qualifier and is now in with a chance of being in the top eight nationally that would take him into the national finals with a chance of making it to the WorldSkills Final. He’s done phenomenally well to get to this stage, but he’s determined to move on, so we’ll keep our fingers crossed!”
