Work-based learning company JTL has appointed a new head of marketing and communications. Cathie Foster joins the provider of apprenticeships in the electrical and plumbing and heating sectors based at its Birmingham Centre of Excellence.

Foster joined JTL after a successful stint as interim marketing officer at Newman University in Birmingham and has undertaken similar roles in the past at Coventry University and OCR, the leading awarding body, where she headed up a team of 22 and managed a budget of £4m.

“These are exciting times at JTL with significant growth planned for the business,” she said. “We currently work with more than 3,000 businesses across England and Wales and have more than 6,000 apprentices working towards their qualifications. I’m looking forward to playing a role in ensuring that JTL continues to build on its core strengths and in promoting our great range of products and services in the months and years ahead.”

JTL is a charitable business formed twenty-five years ago by the Electrical Contractors Association and Unite the Union to provide training for the next generation of electricians. The company expanded its remit into the provision of apprenticeships for the HVAC sector in early 2000s.
