LED Group ROBUS has been named as one of Ireland’s ‘Best Managed’ companies in the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme. Receiving the prestigious award for the first time, LED Group ROBUS was recognised at an awards gala dinner in Dublin on 4 March 2016 hosted by RTE broadcaster Miriam O’Callaghan.
The Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme, in association with Barclays Bank Ireland, recognises indigenous Irish companies across Ireland which are operating at the highest levels of business performance. The network of 115 Best Managed Companies now employs over 47,000 people around the country and has a combined turnover of almost €10bn. LED Group had over 30% growth in turnover last year, and has ambitious growth targets for Ireland and overseas.
Commenting on the award, Michael Slein, Founder & Director of LED Group said: “The Best Managed Companies programme forced us to look in great detail at how we conduct our business across all areas and has helped us to make significant improvements to our 2020 plan.”
“We have a detailed 2020 financial plan and the programme made us stress-test that plan more rigorously than we might have done. It made us look at some areas where we could upskill ourselves and we’re in the process of implementing those changes.”
LED Group was one of sixteen companies from around Ireland awarded Best Managed status for the first time this year, following a lengthy qualification and judging process in which the complete performance of a business is assessed, moving beyond finances to such areas as operational excellence, strategy, and human resource processes. Furthermore, LED Group was singled out for a special recognition prize for Excellence in Commitment.
The annual event included a symposium and later that evening more guest speakers joined the Gala awards ceremony. Many speakers touched on the potential of Irish businesses to become the knowledge creators of Europe. LED Group is at a point of transition, incorporating lifelong learning into their culture. Receiving the two awards from Deloitte has further highlighted LED Group’s ambitions for the future.
By the end of 2016 LED Group will have doubled in size over a three year period with plans to increase RD&I spend by 150% this year.
