Torch passed to next cable generation

Allen Crossley, general manager of Clynder Cables retired at the end of June 2014 after working with the company for the last 22 years.

Crossley first joined Clynder Cables from British Driver Harris in 1992 and worked at the company’s site in Huyton, near Liverpool as commercial director. He was responsible for the day to day running of the company, managing the production and sales.

In 2002 he oversaw the move of Clynder Cables from Huyton to its present site in Miles Platting, Manchester. 

This move enabled the company to reduce costs, broaden its product range and increase the distribution side of the business while promoting the brand of Clynder Cables within the electrical market more widely.

Most recently as general manager Crossley oversaw the sale of Clynder Cables from the Hostombe Group to its new owners Davro Investments. enabling a smooth transition and preserving the jobs of 7 staff members.

Assistant general manager, Oliver Hingston, who took over as general manager on 1 July said: “I would like reiterate our thanks to Allen for his many years of hard work. I am looking forward to the challenge of taking this business forward over the coming years.”

Jeanette Forster, formerly of Fine Wires in Leigh, took up the new position of commercial manager on 1 July.
