DID YOU KNOW THAT A SUPER LOW LOSS AMORPHOUS TRANSFORMER COULD SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVE THE ENERGY EFFICIENCY OF YOUR SITE?

With a significant built estate, Tesco’s commitment to achieve zero-carbon status by 2050 sets a tough challenge. That’s why the Tesco engineering team are focused on all areas of energy consumption to see where the organisation can introduce savings and streamline operations

LOWEST COMBINED TRANSFORMER LOSSES PROVEN RELIABILITY GUARANTEED SAVINGS EVERY LITTLE CAN HELP SAVE A LOT ” HOW THE WILSON E2 IS SAVING TESCO OVER 9 MILLION KWH PER YEAR TO REDUCE CARBON

Considering Tesco’s significant annual electrical consumption, transformer losses represent a lot of electricity. Improving this, even by a small margin, would therefore provide a significant saving. They drew up tougher new engineering specifications and started looking for super-low-loss units.

Wilson Power Solutions was one of the few companies to meet the spec and also offered a transformer with an amorphous core that could offer significant loss savings– the Wilson e2. In addition to the savings through reduced transformer losses, the e2 comes with an extended tapping range allows the reduction of voltage to site at source. This eliminates the need for dedicated voltage management equipment offering an extremely cost effective 2in1 solution with payback typically achieved in less than two years.

With over 90 installations across its estate to date, the Wilson e2 is saving Tesco over 9 million kWh per annum – based on electricity costs of £0.09 /kWh that’s a whopping £810,000.00 each year.

DOES YOUR TRANSFORMER NEED REPLACING?

If you are tasked with maintenance of your company’s (or a customer’s) estate, opting for a super low loss amorphous transformer when capital equipment is up for renewal has become increasingly popular. With guaranteed savings through reduced transformer losses and significant potential savings through in-built Voltage Management capabilities, the additional investment in a super low loss amorphous unit can be recuperated in as little as five months and typically no longer than 2.5 years. What’s more, our industry leading buyback offer on old equipment means that we will take your old unit away for a credit, reducing total replacement costs and eliminating any potential storage requirements. With a life expectancy of 25 years, total cost of ownership considerations are always favourable.
