The 19th Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (Cibse) Young Engineers Awards, sponsored by Ruskin Air Management and Daikin UK, are now open for entries. The ceremony will take place at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) on 9 October 2014 where the Cibse Ashrae Graduate of the Year and Cibse Employer of the Year Awards will be presented, with the Presidents of Ashrae, Cibse and the IMechE in attendance.

The closing date for entry to these highly sought after accolades is 31 July. Last year’s winner of the Employer Award was Max Fordham LLP, who said he was delighted to have his efforts recognised by the Cibse judging panel: “All of our people are encouraged to take ownership of their learning and development and we aim to provide the ideal environment for them to realise their full potential,’ the company said. ‘Over the last two years we have taken on more new graduates than ever, and we have worked really hard to make sure that they have all the support they need to thrive.”

Buro Happold’s William Holley described being crowned the Cibse Ashrae Graduate of the Year in 2013 as a “fantastic honour and incredible introduction into the engineering industry”. The award included a trip to
the Ashrae Winter Conference in New York, which Holley described as “an amazing event that brought together engineers, suppliers and manufacturers from all over the world”.

“Being awarded the Cibse Ashrae Graduate of the Year has created opportunities to make great new contacts and given me some fantastic experiences, which I am confident will have a positive impact on my career
as an engineer.”

The Graduate Award is open to anyone graduating in a building services related discipline within the last two years. The Employer Award recognises those companies who have done most to recruit, retain and encourage young engineers. It has three separate categories for small, medium and large employers as well as an overall award.
