High voltage adapter attaches test leads to hex socket screws

Electrical Review Logo

Test leads can be quickly and safely attached to hex socket screws using the new Variogrip adapters from Multi-Contact. The adapters have a split hexagonal tip that expands on turning a knob at the rear so that it is firmly held inside the socket.

This arrangement produces multiple contact points which ensure low contact resistance. The adapter can be safely attached or removed while the screws are electrically live.

The Variogrip adapters are rated at 1000 V, CAT IV and 24 A and are available in two sizes, for 5 mm and 6 mm hex sockets, having a grey or black knob respectively.

They are available in black, red or blue, and accept 4 mm safety leads. To maintain the CAT IV rating, appropriately rated leads should be used.

Test leads can be quickly, firmly and safely attached to hex socket screws using the new Variogrip adapters from Multi-Contact.
