Extended partnership

The National Skills Academy for Environmental Technologies has extended its partnership with the Joint Industry Board for the Electrical Contracting Industry (JIB), including a range of funding streams for unemployed electricians looking to up-skill into renewables.

Started in March 2012, the partnership between the two organisations means that ECS gold cardholders who train with the Skills Academy can list the renewables qualifications acquired and the Academy’s logo on their cards, giving peace of mind to end users that they are trained to the highest standard. New developments in the benefits of this relationship include the availability of a variety of funding streams, such as the Further Education Fund, designed to help unemployed ECS cardholders get back into work through training. Other help for out of work electricians includes the Skills Academy’s initiative with Jobcentre Plus, providing support and up-skilling opportunities in a range of micro-generation technologies.
