Aberdeenshire Council selected Prysmian Afumex LSX cables for the recently opened Edenholme care village in Stonehaven in the north east of Scotland. The installation work was carried out by the services contractor Richard Irvin, and contract manager George Dempster, explained the puncture protection provided by Afumex LSX cable was the primary reason for its specification.

“There might be similar products available on the market but none that we are aware of that provide the same level of protection as the Afumex cable,” he said. The cables will provide small power and lighting circuits throughout the £8m care village which consists of a new 60 bed home and eight one-bedroom cottages.

Alastair Stewart, principal electrical engineer at Aberdeenshire Council, said the £1m electrical project was installed throughout the building to LV services and was selected because it met the council’s standards specification.
