Nexans keeps energy transmission flowing

Electrical Review Logo

Temporary site cables can prevent costly interruptions to the power supply during upgrade work or repairs on energy networks, Nexans have designed leads specifically to connect equipment in a high-voltage (132kV) system on a temporary basis .

Due to the widespread introduction of renewable energy sources to the transmission network upgrade work is becoming more common whilst the requirement to maintain a constant supply is paramount.

Ideal as a bypass during construction or repair and servicing work Nexans temporary leads are supplied on special three chamber drums to make transportation and handling easier. Flexible silicone rubber outdoor terminations facilitate use in any position and thanks to their low weight, the terminations can be operated without additional support. Temporary leads have the same design as high voltage cables but with reduced insulation thickness, this facilitates a small bending radius making them easy to handle and install.

Nexans manufactures temporary cables in a variety of lengths across three voltage ranges, 110kV, 132kV and 220kV. Further information is available upon request
