Mind the knowledge gap

Electrical Review Logo

Brian Tinson, MD of Tinson Training, is alarmed at the increasing prevalence of supposedly skilled employees assuming, or assumed to have, greater knowledge than they actually possess. This in turn leads to dangerous overconfidence and the accidents that inevitably result.

Perhaps this is a result of the increasing ubiquity of technology and Google in our daily lives but, given that an attendee at a recent Tinson Training electrical course admitted to receiving as many as four electric shocks on a single task, it will pay business managers to ensure their staff are properly trained in relevant skills. The alternative can be both tragic and expensive.

It is just as critical that that training is kept up to date. As Brian Tinson says “ Knowledge decays if not regularly refreshed”.
