Ecodesign Requirements for LED and Directional Lamps

Electrical Review Logo

A new Commission Regulation, published on 14 December 2012, includes new Ecodesign specifications for LED and directional lamps. These requirements apply to directional lamps, LED lamps and lamp control gear, and other products integrated with these devices.

LED modules marketed as part of luminaires produced in small batches are exempt from these requirements.

Besides new product information requirements for special purpose products, new requirements on energy efficiency and product functionality will take effect in stages from 2013–2016. Required product information must be displayed on the package and on free access websites. LED and directional lamps must be labelled according to Commission Delegated Regulation 874/2012. Product parameters must be measured using reliable, reproducible methods.

SGS has the global knowledge and local expertise to help you achieve compliance with Electrical & Electronics regulations covering product safety, hazardous substances, energy efficiency, and Ecodesign.
